Today we are making a small road trip to Silver Lake Sand Dunes and Ludington State Park. We are going to rent a Jeep and tour the Sand Dunes at Silver Lake.
We went to Silver Lake for the sole purpose of renting Jeeps to drive around the only open ORV area in Michigan. It was a great time driving up dunes that didn’t seem like they were driveable. It was also fun to watch the serious Off Road machines do amazing things on the dunes.
We followed up the trip to Silver Lake by driving about an hour north to Ludington State Park. Ludington State Park has a beautiful sandy beach that reminds me of Myrtle Beach. The water was warmer than I can ever remember and was still as clear as I recall. In chest deep water I could still see my feet at the bottom.
Maybe tomorrow I can get some of the running in that I had hoped to.
Vacation started Friday. We drove, bought groceries and settled in for the week. I went to bed shortly after midnight and woke up at 9:00. I just crashed really hard after a stressful week. This meant I missed my long run. Saturday night we went to a minor league baseball game. It also happened to be Star Wars Night. There were all kinds of costumed characters around. We also stayed for Fireworks after the game. Here is a small sample.
It is now Sunday morning and I woke up naturally at 6:00. I probably could have gone for a run, but then I would have to fit my shower in between everyone else before Church. I have more and more excuses. Monday, we are leaving for a day trip at 9:30, so a 6:00 am run will also contribute to the chaos.
The coffee is done, time to grab a cup or 6.
I haven’t posted much lately. Mostly because I have been very busy with my Day Job and the last thing I want to do is sit at my computer. Now I have a new android based phone and can update my blog from nearly anywhere. I will try to do a better job of posting.
I have been getting back into training for my next big event, the 2010 Detroit Free Press Marathon. I did my first group run on Tuesday morning. It was perfect weather and the group ran at a perfect pace for me. Wednesday night I went to the local track and did half mile intervals. This morning I swam half a mile to give my legs a break.
I still have to do a couple of things for the Marathon. First I have to register for the race. Then I have to renew my Passport. Looks like I will be able to renew by mail.
