A previous post of my drew some attention: Kim Andrew Elliott discussing International Broadcasting and Public Diplomacy.
Blogger complains that one of his posts brought a response publicizing VOA election coverage. He says that it was not only spam, but spam "offshored" to India. Steve Miller's Blog, 25 September 2008.
Let’s be clear, a comment was attached to a blog post that I had linked to a story about how Gov. Sarah Palin’s personal email account on Yahoo.com was hacked. Other than the Governor being involved, the post had nothing to do with politics. This comment contained nothing about the article I linked to and promoted something I did not link to (VOA). That makes the comment very clearly spam. I also took the extra effort and traced back the IP Address of the machine making the comment, which lead to an Internet Service Provider in India. I have yet to see disputes of my major points. 1. I was spammed by Voice of America, 2. The spamming was performed from India, and 3. My own tax dollars were used to spam me.
