Two Days In A Row

I have actually made it to work out 2 days in a row. I did an upper body workout Monday morning. This morning I did 34 minutes on the tread mill. I ran for the first 10 minutes at 6 miles per hour. It feels good to actually be working out again. Hopefully I can make a habit out of this.

Starting Over Again (And Again…)

I have reached a rather desperate point. I haven’t been working out regularly and I haven’t been eating very well and have gained at least 40 pounds since this time last summer. My job has been sucking up all the time and energy that had previously been going into mountain biking. Enough that I am nearly one year from riding a 12 hour mountain bike race and in bad enough shape that I need to start over. Tomorrow will be day one of starting over. My plan for the first three months, which should take me through most of the summer, is to do weight training on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Cardio will be on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. My objective is to do this all starting between 5:00 and 5:30 am. I am going to start my cardio with running and try to work my way up to 3 miles in 30 minutes. I have to get all my clothes and my meals together for tomorrow.

Why I Am Proud To Be An American

As I was listening to John McCain stumble through answering a question about having pride in America, it occurred to me that he really needed help. Mrs. Obama wasn’t proud of America until her husband became a leading presidential candidate. Mr. McCain said it was tough sometimes? I don’t think I have heard Mr. Obama even answer the question, although something tells me that without a teleprompter he wouldn’t have a good answer either. I feel it is necessary to help them all out.

  1. The United States of America is the most prosperous nation in the world because of the hard work and ingenuity of the American people.
  2. The United States of America is the worlds only superpower because we have so many heroes who voluntarily put their lives on the line for the rest of us.
  3. The United States of America is the most generous nation in the world because the American people are the most compassionate and loving people in the world.
  4. The United States of America is the most free of all of the nations because our Founding Fathers created a government that even the most corrupt people can only harm, not permanently destroy.

The President of the United States should not hesitate or qualify his answer to the question of why he is proud of America. It is embarrassing that Presidential candidates this year are not unabashedly proud of America.
