Is Country Radio dissing the Dixie Chicks or are the Dixie Chicks dissing Country Radio? I think it is pretty clear the the Dixie Chick had no concept of who their audience is when Natalie made the comments she did. Country Music is the last bastion in the music industry of pro-American values. While I don’t agree with the threats made against the Dixie Chicks, the abandonment of their music by Radio Stations and Listeners is the free market at work. The Dixie Chicks made a statement that basically said, if you don’t like us, don’t listen to us and they market responed with a resounding OK. This is a great example of being stuck on stupid. The Dixie Chicks most certainly are free to their own opinions, but so is their audience.

“Taking the Long Way,” due out May 23, is the band’s first album since singer Natalie Maines sparked a major controversy in 2003 by declaring that she was ashamed to hail from the same state as fellow Texan President George W. Bush. Radio boycotts ensued, and many fans abandoned the band.

  1. Yeah, but look at all the shows they’ve been on now. You’re going to have clowns in New York who have never seen a cow (not on a plate) buying Dixie Chicks CD’s just to support :”The Cause.”
